Dance and eat your way through Cartagena!
After landing in Cartagena, we were pretty tired so wanted to find a coffee shop. Instead, we found amazing espresso martinis at Epoc Espresso Bar within the old city. The staff was super friendly and the crowd was great. Locals and tourists both come here for the delicious coffee drinks, which were reasonably priced considering the swanky decor.
After freshening up, we went to the coolest bar in old town, Alquimico. Two levels of seating and standing space, this spot was packed but they somehow always are able to scrounge up a table for you. The crowd was trendy and young, perfect place to meet locals or tourists. We met another group from New York and had drinks with them at their table. They also have a menu with lots of amazing dishes - definitely go for the pulpo!
No better way to end the night than dancing at La Movida. This indoor / outdoor club gets insanely busy after 11 so make sure to get there somewhat early. Table service is available and definitely recommended so you have your own spot. Salsa, reggaeton and house music are all played here and the dancing goes all night. Another spot where you'll see locals and tourists mingling and the people couldn't be nicer.
All in all we had an amazing time in Cartagena and I can't wait to go back again soon! The weather was 90 and sunny every day, which was the perfect February escape from cold NYC. Make sure to make your way down before the end of March when their windy season begins. Enjoy!
